Flex Block Time at GLSHS
For the 2025-2026 School Year, GLSHS Time will continue using Flex Block Time. The ideals of Flex Block Time align within one or more of the five overarching GLSHS pillars - Academics, Arts, Athletics/Fitness, Career/Future Readiness, and Citizenship. Flex Block Time will increase in frequency this year and will occur on Mondays and Tuesdays beginning in September. Each Flex Block will be for about a half hour when all GLSHS Students are at the High School.
Flex Block Time builds upon the Lunch and Learn/GL Time concepts in years past with increased structure and increased opportunities using the Flex scheduling system. All students will select from a variety of student-centered initiatives then report to a designated opportunity’s location. Students will have the option to meet with staff for academic support, enrichment, clubs or organizations meetings, or all of the above.
In addition, Flex Block Time will also provide an increased Career and Future Readiness-related focus and Citizenship-based opportunities. They could be an extension of what is learned in their courses, learned through SmartFutures, the Career/Future Readiness Hub used by all GLSD students, and/or as a prelude for readiness beyond the regularly scheduled school day.
Parents/Guardians, please continue to encourage your child(ren) to maximize each Flex Block Time opportunity to thoroughly prepare to do well and to do good during school and beyond!
